Postinfo, the citizen-centric Android mobile application developed by the Centre for Excellence in Postal Technology, provides several useful facilities:

Let's take a closer look at each facility:

Tracking:

The tracking facility on this mobile app allows users to track various types of mail items, such as Speed Post, Registered Letter, Insured Letter, and more. Users simply need to enter the article number and tap the Track button to view the status. Additionally, users can save the results for future reference and share them through various Android native sharing apps.

Post Office Search:

Users can search for post offices by entering the first three characters of the office name or the postal code. The app provides a list of matching post offices, and by selecting a specific row, users can view details such as the name of the post office, street address, contact information, division name, etc. The app also includes an offline pincode search feature that helps users find the nearest post office, locate post offices on Google Maps, and make calls to post offices.

Postage Calculator:

This feature calculates the postage (tariff) based on the weight entered by the user for various items like ordinary letter, speed post (domestic), registered letter, ordinary parcel, and more. The app also considers distance when calculating the domestic speed post tariff. There are five slabs of tariffs based on distance: local, up to 200 KM, 201 to 1000 KM, 1001 to 2000 KM, and above 2000 KM.

Insurance Premium Calculator:

Through Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance, the Department offers various types of life insurance policies. This calculator allows users to check the premium payable for all eligible types of Postal/Rural Postal Life Insurance policies based on their input.

Interest Calculator:

The Post Office offers different types of Small Savings Schemes, including Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Recurring Deposit, Time Deposit (1 year, 2 years, 3 years, and 5 years), Monthly Income Scheme, Senior Citizen Savings Scheme, National Savings Certificate, and Kisan Vikas Patra. The interest calculator helps users determine the interest rates applicable to these schemes.
